FLAME CAP
2021-2022 - 470902, 530461 - $80ReleasedBackground: The Flame Cap was released as one of YGEBB’s most popular pieces. Although a few looks from the YGEBB lookbook featured the cap, it was ultimately edited out and not shown in the final release of the initial Lookbook. The cap underwent multiple iterations of the flame design, as evident in various samples, and was not originally a part of YGEBB's formal development.
Though becoming a popular piece, the Flame Cap didn’t come without controversy. On 05/24/2022, one day before its release, @legendary6ix claimed that Ye and Demna had stolen his idea. Ye had previously worn @legendary6ix’s Flame Hat to his Donda Soldier Field listening party in Chicago, and had also texted Demna pictures of the cap. @legendary6ix had claimed Ye wanted to work/collaborate with him and had asked him to create designs for a collaboration, but eventually ghosted him. Whether Ye and Demna truly stole the design is still up for debate, but the initial Flame Designs are clearly based on NASCAR's Kyle Petty 45 Sprint Cap.
There are 2 versions of the Flame Cap, one with a long brim that was the version sold on yeezygap.com and other sites, and one with a short brim that was likely the kid's version that started appearing once Gap liquidated their stock.
The Flame Cap later went on to be worn by multiple celebrities, from Taeyong to Dove Cameron.
Did not feature any Model Images on yeezygap.com.
